We get asked lots of questions about our business so we decided to answer a few of them here just to make it easy for all of us.
Well, we have 3 sons and a daughter who is much younger than the boys. She gets special billing in lots of ways. Woe Is Me actually came from Melvin's day job. He was doing some motivational training and talking about how your attitude when you start the day really sets the tone for your day. After that he walked into meetings proclaiming his refusal to stay if this was going to be another "Woe Is Me Meeting". He was adamant that regardless of the situation he and his team would maintain a positive outlook and find great solutions to their challenges. It kinda stuck with him and it is catchy. Once you hear it, you never forget it.
Depends on the dish. Melvin claims the BBQ, key lime pie, sweet potato pie, corn pudding, brunswik stew and the green beans. Rhonda claims the mac & cheese, apple pie, corn bread and cole slaw. But both give lots of credit to their mothers and grandmothers - we taste as we go so it is really hard to tell you how many cups of anything to use. Other than the sauce, we are pretty good about trying to share recipes.
Absolutely! Call the restaurant at 513-843-6570 513-843-6570 and tell Rhonda or the boys what you need and when you will pick it up. It will be waiting for you, hot or cold, ready for you to pick up as scheduled. Around the holidays, order must be placed at least one week in advance! You can always swing through the drive thru so you don't even have to get out of your car!
At least 30 days if you want us to smoke a pig at your location. However, if all you need is a few items to serve yourself, give us a week or so. If you need full catering service but not too fancy we can accomodate you in a about 2 weeks.
Yes. We occasionally get help from the grocer - such as buying pre-shredded cabbage for the cole slaw. But everything is mixed and seasoned by us. The pork and turkey are pulled by our hands - we do not chop the meat because it is so tender we don't have to. The ingredients are simple and you can pronounce each one of them.
Our biggest catering event was for about 1800 people.
Yes. Hopefully, we will have an event page added to our site in the near future. We also do a few events in downtown Cincinnati, especially the ones where beer is being served to go along with our BBQ. Mostly we stick to small events where we can get to know folks and chit chat a bit.
No. We had a beer permit but we did not sell enough of it to pay for the permit. We are a family restaurant - getting tipsy is not what we are all about. Who wants to drink and drive with their kids in the car?
You can read our customer comment page on this site or any number of the social networking sites we use. Try www.yelp.com, www.foursquare.com, www.urbanspoon.com, www.facebook.com and www.twitter.com to start. There are others out there but these seem to be the most popular as of this moment.
Still have questions? Please contact us anytime! We look forward to hearing from you.
